  1. My programmer is trying to convince me to move to .net
from PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses.
But he's tryiong none the less. I've been using
WordPress on a number of websites for about a year and am nervous about switching to another platform.
I have heard excellent things about blogengine.net. Is there
a way I can import all my wordpress posts into it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    2. Me, I'm a .NET developer...here's two things I can tell you:

      1. I get job offers each month, without looking, just by having my name out as a .NET dev.

      2. I receive help-wanted updates in my email daily from various sources...every day, there is a new call for a PHP developer.

Both are in demand, anywhere you go. It depends on your taste. When you start getting into the development community, you'll hear a lot of "PHP sucks" talk. To me, it doesn't suck...it just isn't as useful as .NET, and where it IS useful, you have to work harder. Maybe that's the Object Oriented Programmer in me talking...

I won't say any language is definitively better than another, though. That's like saying a hammer is better than a screwdriver. Every language is unequivocally the best language for a certain job. (just like a hammer is unequivocally the best tool to drive a single nail into a wall).

If you want work, you need only be a good programmer. It doesn't matter the language, you'll find a place to use it. And another misconception, while we're on it, is that all languages are so different that knowing more than one or two is not possible. Good programmers can read ANY programming language...even if they've never seen it. Give them a few weeks, and they can also write it.
